What affiliate links are
An affiliate link is a tracked URL that tells a retailer how a customer arrived at their site. When you purchase through that link, the retailer pays a small commission to the referring site. The price you pay is the same whether you use an affiliate link or navigate to the retailer directly.
Which programs we use
BushcraftDen participates in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to Amazon.com. We may also use affiliate programs from other outdoor and gear retailers.
Commission rates on Amazon vary by product category, typically ranging from 1% to 10%. BushcraftDen does not control these rates and they change without notice.
How to identify affiliate links
All affiliate links on this site carry the HTML attributes rel="sponsored nofollow noopener" and open in a new tab (target="_blank"). In article text, affiliate links are identified with the word "affiliate link" nearby, either in the link text or in an adjacent note. Every article with affiliate links includes a disclosure paragraph at the bottom of the content.
What affiliate status does not affect
Affiliate status does not influence:
- Which products are recommended
- The rating a product receives
- Where a product appears in a buying guide (best overall, budget pick, etc.)
- Whether a product is reviewed at all
Products are recommended on merit. A product earning no affiliate commission can be and frequently is the top pick. A product paying a high commission can be listed as an inferior alternative to a product that pays nothing. Commission structure is determined by the retailer, not by this site.
